This Christmas, Vivaldi Chamber Choir is amplifying the voices of black, living and female composers with our program, “Noël: blanc et noir”. The program features incredible works by Zanaida Robles, B.E. Boykin, Nathaniel Dett, Mark Miller, Christopher Ducasse, Adolphus Hailstork and Rosephanye Powell – all works that were new to our choir.

Balancing the program are some iconic choral treasures from John Rutter, Zoltán Kodály, Morten Lauridsen and others – creating a moving choral tribute to the hopes and dreams of the Christmas season.

This program features 4 world premieres alongside wonderful pieces by living Canadian and American composers.

Come experience the world premieres of pieces by Christopher Ducasse, Alex Van Sant, Victoria Vasta, and Megan Batty, complemented by existing works by Vidita Kanniks, Matthew Emery, B. E. Boykin, Dale Trumbore, and Robert Ingari.

The music of this recital will center around the African Heritage in the choral repertoire around the world. It will feature composers of African descent and/or composers whose compositions are in the style/genre of traditional African music.
You will hear music by Sydney Guillaume (Haiti), Christopher Ducasse (Haiti), Undine Smith Moore (USA), Vicente Lusitano (Portugal), Cedric Dent (USA), and Micheal Barret (South Africa).

The Adleisia choir explores the various Elements of nature through an eclectic repertoire. The pieces evoke air, fire, earth, and water, as well as light in its many forms. In keeping with Adleisia's mission, the program celebrates pieces composed in Canada, as well as pieces composed by women.
